In a tragic incident in Bucharest, a homeless individual was killed by a 29-year-old man who then proceeded to transport the victim’s body through the city in a shopping cart. The perpetrator later discarded the body in a green area in District 1, as reported by authorities.
The Bucharest Public Prosecutor’s Office has initiated criminal proceedings against the suspect for the murder, stating that the fatal attack took place on 25.09.2024 in a homeless shelter in District 1. The victim, a 34-year-old man, sustained life-threatening injuries from multiple blows with a hoe. The perpetrator then wrapped the body in blankets and used a shopping cart to move it to a nearby overgrown area, where both the body and the cart were abandoned.
The victim’s remains were discovered on September 28 by a passerby who promptly alerted the authorities by dialing the emergency number 112. The suspect was apprehended, detained for 24 hours, and subsequently remanded in custody for 30 days.
The investigation into this heinous crime is ongoing and is being conducted by the Bucharest District Prosecutor’s Office and the Homicide Service of the General Directorate of Police in Bucharest, with the assistance of law enforcement officers from the 2nd Police Section, the first responders to the scene.
