During a press conference, the Minister of Health in Romania, Alexandru Rafila, highlighted the significance of certain ‘common medicines’ being compensated within the country. Rafila pointed out that while drugs like aspirin are available over the counter, compensated and free medications have seen a substantial increase in value, nearing approximately 2 billion euros.
Moreover, Rafila discussed the essential role played by a network of hospitals in Romania, emphasizing their contribution to the healthcare system. These hospitals not only handle a high volume of cases but also tackle complex medical situations. Rafila mentioned ongoing efforts to establish criteria for the inclusion of these hospitals in the network, which comprises not only university centers but also county hospitals.
